TAX THE ULTRA RICH

TAX THE ULTRA RICH FOR CLIMATE AND WELFARE
For the 2026 election, we are demanding that the super rich, people with a fortune of over 50 million, be taxed to pay for a rapid climate transition and a functioning welfare system.
Together with Greenpeace International and Oxfam, we are running a campaign to link extreme wealth with the climate crisis. In the first two months of the campaign we have repeatedly disrupted the speeches of Magdalena Andersson (S) and several other party leaders, been at major political events across the country and been mentioned in more than 50 articles. All with three simple demands: tax assets above 50 million, introduce an exit tax and reintroduce a wealth register.
EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE ULTRA RICH AND THE CLIMATE CRISIS
hälften av världens matproduktion hotas till 2050The climate crisis is acute.
The temperature on Earth is rising. 2024 was 1.6 degrees warmer than in pre-industrial times. It is warned that half of the world's food production is threatened by 2050 due to extreme weather due to extreme weather, while we see natural disasters resulting from global warming becoming both more frequent and worse. Last autumn, 232 people died in Spain as a result of extreme torrential rains, and in January, over 18,000 buildings burned down in Los Angeles. At the same time, civil society is being hollowed out and welfare is deteriorating.
The super-rich are a problem.
Sweden is an economically unequal country where 99% of the people have become poorer in recent years while we now have twice as many billionaires per capita as the United States. The richest 1% not only have more money but also create 10 times the emissions as any of the poorest 50%. A majority of people want a climate transition and say that high-income earners must go first. It is clear that we need a fair climate transition, but it is currently being blocked by the interests and influence of the super-rich.

The money is right here.
158 billion SEK could come from taxing assets over 50 million, which could cover free public transport, dental care and all of Sweden's primary health care by a large margin. Sweden's richest man could single-handedly pay for Sweden's entire climate and environmental budget for 10 years. It is time for politicians to connect the climate crisis with the billionaires. We will work ahead of the election to make taxation of the super-rich a reality.
OUR DEMANDS
-
Tax assets over 50 million
- A 5 % tax on fortunes over 10 million
- a 3 % tax on net worths over 500 million
- a 2 % tax on net worths over 50 million
-
Introduce an exit tax
- Exit tax is a tax on unrealized capital profits extracted when a person moves from Sweden. This ensures that the profits are taxed in Sweden before billionaires move their money to a country with potentially lower taxes.
-
Reintroduce a wealth register
- Sweden needs transparent data on how income, capital, assets and wealth are distributed in Sweden. Several countries securely have such systems and Sweden has previously had a wealth register.
- Spend the money from the tax on improving welfare and implementing a climate transition.
HELP US CONTINUE THE CAMPAIGN
We have a plan. We will reclaim the future from the super-rich who are burning the planet while their wealth just keeps increasing. Billionaires who build their fortunes by means of fast fashion, oil drilling and pricing food so high that ordinary people can't afford to eat. While 99% of Swedes have become poorer. While the climate crisis escalates.
We have a plan. But we need your help.
We need money for flyers, train tickets, food, and more.
Give what you can. Big and small amounts. Ask your friend or relative to help. Everything counts. This is how we reclaim the future.
